B Corp Certified

At the beginning of 2021, we made a commitment to become a Certified B Corporation.

On 21st February 2022, we were awarded B Corp Certification with a score of 93.4, which makes us the highest scoring accounting firm in the UK. Please click here to read our first impact report since certifying.

We are proud to be part of global movement of people using business as a force for good, which aligns with our beliefs and values. As a certified B Corp, we measure our social and environmental performance and are part of a business community who share our vision of a better future for everyone.  

As an outsourced accounting firm who specialise in the food and drink industry, we know that becoming a certified B Corp is an important move in supporting the sustainable development of the industry’s future. 

Through working with the charity, Unseen UK, our eyes have been opened to the fact that slavery and exploitation exists in the supply chains across the world, not just overseas, but here in the UK too. Which is why we will be focussing on improving the working conditions of our teams in the UK and Romania, creating high quality jobs, supported with internationally recognised qualifications.

Work-life Balance

A work-life balance is very high up on our list of priorities, not just for our clients, but our team too. We made the decision to switch to remote working before the coronavirus pandemic, this was to reduce our carbon footprint and to give our teams more flexibility and time at home with their families. We trust and empower our team to manage their workloads so that they can be flexible with their working time.  

Don’t worry, working remotely hasn’t affected our relationships. We’ve been using Zoom and Microsoft Teams since before it was cool to pick your own background. We also encourage our staff to switch from meetings to telephone calls, using their company mobile to get out and about, instead of being stuck at their desks. 

Something that we like to make clear at Portt & Co is that you don’t need to make that choice between a career and children. With flexible, remote working, we want to make it as easy as possible for working parents to further their career, while having that work-life balance.
